Journal Page Believe

Hello Papercrafters,

I see that it has been several months since I have made a post, I apologize but I have completely changed the direction of my creativity.......after much soul searching I decided to go back to painting, the art medium that I love the most.  I had painted only occasionally for several years while my girls were young, , then started painting all the time back in April after my last post, I have several completed canvases. I'm starting another blog for my paintings soon.
I am taking a mixed media class to learn some new techniques and to learn how to use new materials, this week happens to be somewhat papercraft related so I thought I would post it and share.
This was created on a heavy watercolor paper, I used acrylic paints thinned down to paint the background of sky and mountains and the light green and stone path in the foreground.  The fence posts are embossed with a wood grain folder, then popped up, the flowers were stamped then I carefully cut them out then hand painted each one, some were popped up.  The trees in the mid ground were stamped with acrylic paint, I penciled in the quote, then painted the letters, the word 'believe' was stamped with stazon.
I finished by accenting the edges using acrylic paint, stencils and my fingers, it creates a frame around the work.
My plan is to frame this and give it for a Christmas gift.
The size is 11" x 15".
I hope this inspires you to create a journal page, the materials can be swapped with whatever you have on hand, give it a try and have fun!

Here's a painting I did and submitted at Talenthouse to try and get a cover for the musical group The Pierces, they are from the UK, but alas I did not win, I do have this awesome work of art though.
They had a video of one of their songs to use for the inspiration of the work, this is my interpretation. It was done with acrylic paints on stretched canvas.
Thank you for stopping by, I will be adding paper crafted works occasionally in the future and I will have a separate site for my paintings, I will share more details soon.
Have a wonderful day!

Retro Fresh Framed Happy Greeting

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Wednesday!  I'm sorry I've been rather absent lately but I have been drowning in paperwork, lol, getting my mil paperwork ready for the accountant.........I used to not mind doing it but now it has been become something I dread, I don't like crunching numbers I like making cards, lol.  Anyway over the weekend I did take a bit of time to use some of my new goodies to create a card.....finally got the photos' edited and ready for the post.

I used the new 'on film' framelits dies and the new retro fresh dsp.....don't you love all the arrows.....here's the front...

I also used the stamp set 'peachy keen' and one of my 'free' sab stamps from the 'see ya later' set......4 great stamps in this set....hope you were able to get one of your own :)..............

I added a little accent to the inside so it wouldn't be so plain....

Well actually just some dsp for the sentiment to sit on, looked much better than just the sentiment on the inside.

I love the colors in this dsp set......I've gotten a thing for orange and shades of orange here lately, not sure what's up with that, lol, orange is not usually a color I go for.....sometimes change is good.

Thank you for stopping by!  Have a wonderful day!

So very grateful Tagged Greeting

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Tuesday!  Things have been so busy lately with spring and school sports, all 3 of my daughters are involved- 2 are playing softball and the other is on the track team, I have turned into the taxi service......I don't mind so much although it can be hard to get anything accomplished.......however I do like watching them play it's enjoyable and relaxing, plus I get out of the house for awhile.   Going to watch an evening game tomorrow, I like those, except it's still a bit chilly, will probably need to take a blanket to cover up with.

Today I have another card using the 'so very grateful' set, I sort of did some casing of a tag in the occasions catalog but then decided to add the tag to a card front....I really love the way it turned out....the flowers in this set are so pretty, love it!  ...........here's the front...

I had to do a little extra stamping and fussy cutting to add the extra flowers and leaves,  to shade the flowers I used my blender pen and SU ink and markers.

On the inside I simply stamped a sentiment, then stamped, cut, and painted a flower to add to the corner.

 For my supplies I used:

strawberry slush cs
fresh prints dsp stack
So very grateful stamp set
1/8"  rose regal ribbon
blender pens, markers and ink

Many thanks for stopping by, I hope my card inspired you to create one of your own!

Have a great day!

So Very Grateful Moms day

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Wednesday!  I hope you are all having a good week so far, I'm sorry I'm a day late with this post but as I was working on editing my photos for this post yesterday my daughter sent me a text and said there softball game was starting about 30 minutes earlier than we had thought and she wanted me to bring her a drink and some sunflower seeds, lol, got to have those for the game......so I had to drop everything and head out the door.  When I got home of course it was time for fixing dinner,  and getting everything ready for today, so I did not get back to my post until this morning.

Today's greeting is for mothers day,  I combined the two set's 'so very grateful' and 'my mother' from the occasions catalog............I love the flowers in this set, it's such a beautiful design and it looks fabulous when painted.   I used a blender pen and SU ink to color in the flowers, then I added a little sparkle with some rhinestones.

My cs base is strawberry blush........

And with such a lovely front I decided the inside needed to be just as lovely, especially since it is a mothers day card.

I really adore this set and I can see I will be getting  a lot of use out of it.

Well I really must be on my way, busy day ahead and I want to get all the un-fun chores done so I can spend some time in my craft studio.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Oh Snap Cat Birthday Greeting

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Monday!  Today our weather took a turn, well last night really, yesterday was so warm and sunny that I was in shorts, t-shirt and barefoot, but last night a high wind came in and it's still blowing, it's sunny and nice but chilly.

Over the weekend I created a couple of cards to post this week, today's card is using the new 'oh snap' , and 'Cool kid' stamp sets from the Occasions and the 'See ya later' set from the SAB....you to can get the 'See ya later' set for FREE!  with a $50. purchase!  Don't delay SAB ends March 31st!  Anyway I also used the 'sweet sorbet' dsp (from SAB) and some of those cool sequins you see everyone using to dazzle up their creations.

I used the 'gorgeous grunge' set and gold heat embossing to create a background for the cat. Here's the inside....

Tomorrow I will be back with a greeting made with the 'So very Grateful' set from the Occasions catalog, it's one of my favorites, can't wait to share.

Have a wonderful day!

Easter Petal Parade

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Saturday all!, as I promised I am back with a quick post and another card using the petal parade stamp set, I really love the flowers in this set.....I can see that it is going to get much use.  I had a die cut piece from the 'on film' framelits that I had used part of on another card sitting on my desk, so I decided to incorporate it into another card.

I started by adding a piece of vellum to the back of the frame, then I layered some dsp on the front and topped it with the frame so the flowers would peek through, I added the 'sweet sorbet' embellishments....cork flowers.....and some of the twine.  It needed some sparkle so I added some of the sequins, I separated them from the string and attached them separately.

Here is a side view...

I added a little dress-up to the inside but left room to personalize.

I really must be off for now, the girls and I are getting ready to go out to lunch then bridesmaid dress shopping for my nieces wedding....I love playing dressup, hoping I can find a nice dress to wear to the wedding while I'm there too.

So I hope you all have a great weekend, I will be back on Monday with something new to share!

Happy mistake Side Closing Greeting with Petal Parade

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Friday!  Well I'm so happy the telephone repair guys came early, actually yesterday afternoon, but hey that's 2 days earlier than they had originally said they would be here........so yea we have the internet back again!!!  While they were fixing it I went to watch my daughter play some varsity softball, the weather was great, I was in short sleeves.....seems like spring is arriving early this year, for California anyway.

The card I'm sharing today is using the petal parade set from the SAB, only available through March 31, 2014, now my card base is actually an accident that I played with and made work, I just had my paper lined up in the wrong spot and of course I didn't notice until I had already scored it, so I decided to create a flap at the end and add a closure........I used 2 buttons and some twine attached to one button, you just twist the twine around the other button to keep closed.
The cs was cut at 4 1/4" x 10"  then scored at 5 1/2 " and 7/8"

My happy mistake turned out kind of cute, I think I will try using this design again only perhaps rounding the corners, I also think it would be awesome with a pocket inside for holding a gift card, more work for the design dept. :)

And here it is opened fully .........

Here is a list of my supplies:

pool party cs-122924
petal parade stamp set- w 133599 or c 133602 from the SAB get free w/$50.purchase!
happiest birthday wishes stamp set- retired
rhinestones- 119246
twine lucky limeade- retired
inks:  summer starfruit-126991
          coastal cabana-131175
          pear pizazz-131180
          buttons- retired

I hope you liked it, I think it turned out pretty good for starting with a mistake :)

Thank you for stopping by, I have another card I will be sharing tomorrow,  I made it using some of my new supplies!

Have a wonderful day!

Hello Papercrafters,

So I will have to try for Saturday afternoon, in the meantime I got a new order of SU with a bunch of new stamps and dsp so I will be creating some new goodies and will share as soon as I can get back on-line.

Petal parade with Vellum Window

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Monday, I hope everyone has a good start to their week, it's kind of windy around here today but this week the weather is supposed to be nice.  On Sunday I took some time to mess around in my studio and created a greeting using the 'petal parade' set in the SAB flyer, you can get it free through the end of March with a $50. purchase.......contact me for any details or info you need!

Anyway I've seen some examples on the web using the stamps in this set to create a background, plus there's also some dsp with a print using those flowers, love it, but since my order still has not gotten here yet I made my own background using the set. I wanted a window to look through to the background so I decided to use the new die in the occasions,  'on film' and vellum for the window.

The butterflies and leaves were die cut, the flowers were stamped and cut out then attached, the hello was stamped with versa mark and heat embossed with black. Here's a side view.....

And the inside...........

Tomorrow I have another greeting card made for a Birthday, it is similar in that I used the 'petal parade' and the same colors and patterns but the card is different than todays post.  So if you have the time stop by and see what's new in my crafty world.

Have a great day!

Standing Coastal Box tutorial

Hello Papercrafters

Happy Thursday! I hope your week is going good so far, we are actually having some great weather here, feels like spring, temps in the 70's, we have some tomato seedlings coming up and we're making our garden plans, I can't wait, home grown vege's are so good.

If you follow my blog I'm back to share the second part of the Standing box/ greeting card set tutorial.  I actually filmed them back to back, but it takes awhile to get them from the camera to my computer to the web.....

I missplaced some of the measurements during the taping so I want to add the measurements here:

For the box bottom:  cut cs at 6 1/2" x 10 "~ on the 10" side score at 4 1/2" & 5 1/2"
turn and score @ 1" & 5 1/2"-------fold on score lines, cut off center tab, adhere together as per video
For the top:  cut cs at 6 1/2" x 6 3/4"  ~ on the 6 3/4"  side score at 1"  & 5 3/4"   turn and score at 2 3/4" & 3 3/4"---------fold on score lines, cut off center tab, adhere together as per video.

If you are unclear about any of my instructions, just comment on this post and I will get back to you......if you miss any of my videos just click on the link to my channel (on the top right side.

Thank you for stopping by, have a great day!

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Wednesday! I hope your having a good week so far, I have been busy as always but I'm really happy because Saturday is my Birthday! :)  Great day for my Birthday to fall on, usually my kids are at school, now we can celebrate all day together!

I was finally able to get the video tutorials made that I promised you all last week, my apologies for taking so long, I woke up on Friday with a migraine type headache and a sick stomach :( needless to say I was not up to making a video or crafting at all, but I am better now I did my prep work and filmed the videos yesterday.

I ended up making 2 tutorials, 1 of the card and 1 of the box that holds the set of cards.  Today I will be sharing the card video tomorrow the box video will be published.

Here are the measurements for the card:

pool party cs- cut at 4 1/4" x 11", score at 5 1/2 "
white cs- cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
(for the other cards in the set, I used baked brown sugar, pistachio pudding, & pink pirouette cs w/ whisper white)

I used the stamp sets:  petal parade- from the SAB catalog
petite petals- from the Occasions catalog
lots of thanks- from the IBC

I'm not the best videographer in the world, still trying to figure it all out, so please excuse my mistakes......I am trying to tweak and improve my efforts, lol.   Enjoy!

Thank you for your patience and for stopping by, have a wonderful evening!

Colorful Petite Petals parade card set with Box

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Wednesday!  I hope your week is going well so far....I have been spending some much needed time doing some domestic work, I procrastinate far too often when it comes to housework and hide in my crafty fortress instead, lol, so I have been getting rid of some clutter, washing windows, purging old, stained or torn, or doesn't fit anymore clothes from the girls room.......I was joking with my husband and told him "I'm really worn out, I'm not used to doing this much housework, lol"

Seriously it's not that bad....most of the clutter is just a lot of laziness and not wanting to put away what was gotten out, ugh,  I thought girls were supposed to be neater than that, I'm hoping some day they will grow out of it :)

Today I am excited to share this Boxed Set I created...........it started with one card that I cased from my upline....Thank you Dawn!  Anyway I loved the card, made my own but changed it up a bit, then decided to re-create it in a few colors with different sentiments, then I thought they need a box...............so the result is a beautiful box with 4 greetings.  This set would make a great gift and of course when emptied the box could be refilled.

I ended up creating a card in coastal cabana, baked brown sugar, pistachio pudding, and pink pirouette.  The sentiments include a Thank you, a Happy Birthday, a Hello, and a Just for you.

I love the look and the technique, I'm picturing some other images that would also work well :)

The flowers I used were a combination of the 'petal parade' and 'petite petals' I used a blender pen and ink to paint the brown sugar flowers, I love how they turned out....can't wait to get my hands on the new blender pens SU is coming out with :)

That ruffled ribbon is just the right accent to the scallop circles.....ruffled ribbons are on my favorites list!

Here's my list of supplies:

white cs #100730
coastal cabana cs # 131297
baked brown sugar cs # 131296
pistachio pudding cs # 131294
pink pirouette cs # 111351

Easter Egg Hunt Greeting

Hello Papercrafters,

Wishing you a happy Saturday!  I hope you are all having a great start to your weekend,  I worked my tail off cleaning house yesterday, so today I've been taking it easy.  Started the morning taking 1 daughter to basketball camp, then another daughter was doing softball tryouts, and then my 3 rd daughter had softball practice.....I stayed to watch the practice....it was a nice day sunny and warm, in the sun that it, I had my own chair, a drink and some sunflower seeds, it was quite relaxing and enjoyable.

When I got back home I messed around a bit in my crafty room and created this Easter greeting, I think I'm longing for my fringe scissors, which I still haven't gotten yet (insert sad face) so I had to cut my grass by hand, it turned out ok but it would look better and neater, more uniform if I had the scissors.

It folds over from the side, and the top above the eggs I slightly cut off, so it is shorter than the back.....it turn out colorful and happy :)

Here's a side view:

On the inside I simply stamped a bunny in an egg shell leaving room for a personal message.

My supply list:

Crisp cantaloupe cs #131298
Pistachio pudding cs # 131294
Dazzling diamond # 102023
SU markers brights # 131259
white satin ribbon
and some retired stamps:
Wacky wishes
Easter egg wheel
Everybunny

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Peachy Hello

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Thursday! My this week is zooming by, I can't believe the weekend is almost here.  This Friday and Saturday my girls are participating in soccer, softball try-outs and there's a school dance Friday evening.  We've had some awesome weather for outside activities but it seems like spring is getting here too soon, wish it would hold off a bit and give us more rainy days.

Today I carved out some time to get a little creative in my craft room and I created a greeting card using I believe it's 'calypso coral' cs looks peachy to me :)  anyway I used a sketch I found on the web to give me the inspiration I needed to get started.

Here's the card front:

I've seen a lot of cards and projects using the petite petals stamp set and punch,  I love it!  this is a wonderful bundle that's very reasonably priced............

Since I used the sentiment ' you can never have too much happy' on the front I had a lightbulb moment and decided to use my markers to color and stamp just the 'happy' over and over.........very cool, it's like having another stamp that just says 'happy' :)...............

It turned out a little silly but it does put the 'happy' on your face. Here are my supplies:

Petite petals #133155 clear # 133152 wood
Yippee Skippee # 131344 clear #131341 wood
dsp brights stack # 130134,
calypso coral cs # 122925
ruffle ribbon cantaloupe # 130021,
rhinestones #119246,
gold embossing powder # 109129
On film framelits die # 132969

Thank you for stopping by, have a wonderful day!

Window Slider Card

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Tuesday!  I hope you all had a great weekend, we all thoroughly enjoyed the extra day.........I have 3 daughters, 14, 12, & 10....we've been dealing with my oldest going over on her cell minutes or text limits....money is tight and of course when you throw extra expenses into the mix we'll it stress's me out :/  anyway so I told her I was going to find something more cost effective for us and change her over....omg she did not like that at first but I let her simmer down and did my research.....

as luck would have it, I mean like wow was the universe working in my favor :)   I heard about a family plan with Cricket ( who was my cell provider) that you could have up to 5 family members on smartphones for $99./month unlimited everything!  (No this is not an ad for Cricket, lol, I'm just thrilled)......what.......when I heard the priceI thought I need to jump on this, we're already paying that much for just 2 phones and my 2 youngest got trac fone's for xmas so they are starting to add to that monthly cell bill.

So there are 5 of us with my husband, I drug him down to the cricket store and signed us up for the plan!!!!  we love it!   I did have to buy 4 phones but we went reasonable with the type and price and I used the phone I already have, my husband & 2 youngest didn't have a smartphone and wanted one, so they are tickled and my oldest loves the new phone, her old phone was getting worn from all the texting, lol and they all, myself included, love the unlimited everything!!!    Needless to say we spent the rest of the weekend playing on our phones, texting, talking, downloading, playing, lol, fun stuff :)

But I did take a little time to learn how to make a new type of card,  actually got the idea from my upline Dawn Griffith :)  thank you Dawn!! So this is my case of her card, I love the little slider it's so cool, I think interactive cards are awesome!  Now that I have made one I am anxious to try more sooooo I'm thinking this may be the design of the week, lol.   Here is todays version:

My design includes a mixture of new and retired items.....to see the rest of the card just pull the ribbon in the direction the arrow is pointing :)

I really love it displayed this way, not to pat myself on the back but I think it turned out really cool!   Better get my house chores done so I can get back in my craft room.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Thursday and welcome back :)   I got myself in gear yesterday, made the video I promised I would, uploaded it and published the post to my blog!  woo hoo, lol.   Today's post is going to be short and sweet as I have so much to get accomplished today while my girls are in school then we are going to go do a little shopping after school....got to get all our Valentines taken care of.

Today I am happy to share these sweet little cupid's arrow treat/favors I created, I've seen these 1" x 8 " cello bags made into all kinds of clever favors and I just had a brainstorm one day and thought 'what if I'.......and walla here's what I created.....

Now these are really simple and easy to put together and really take very few supplies to make them, plus there is room to change it up a bit.....if you make one please share I'd love to see your version.

Here's my video tutorial......

I had a bit of a mess up during the taping, lol, what a goof I am, now I can crack up but while taping I was like omg did I just do that on the inside, lol,  I hope you enjoyed anyway.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Monday! , Today is holiday in honor of Lincoln's Birthday :)  so Happy Birthday Lincoln!  and thank you for the 3 day weekend!   Next Monday we are honoring Presidents Day and we get another 3 day weekend woo hoo!!! wow with February being so short these holidays make it seem even shorter, March will be here before you know it....which is my favorite month of the year since it is my birthday month!

So I hope you are all having a great day off, if you get one.....Valentines Day will be here the end of the week so this week I will be sharing lots of Valentine goodies :) I'm so excited I've been making those box cards that are all the rage and I will be sharing my Valentine versions!!!

Today I have a little cello bag favor with a Valentine topper, I sort of cased this from the SU stampin success magazine, I just couldn't help myself, when I saw the bird stamped in white on the cello I just had to make one of my own :)

I think the bird is so sweet...it's from the 'Love you more' set, which is only available while supplies last.  Here another view without candy.....

These sweet little favors work up fast, of course the topper can be as simple or elaborate as you wish....these are great for co-workers, friends or class parties.

Envelope punch board Valentine Favor

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Friday!  Well I was so happy to discover this morning that this and next weekend are 3 day weekends!!!  Yea!  I'm usually aware of all holidays but these snuck up on me so this morning I was doing the happy dance, lol.

Valentines Day is coming up soon so I will be sharing different Valentine projects with you, today I have a couple of my updated Envelope punch board favors.......if you are a follower of my blog you may remember that I created this same favor for Christmas (there is a photo tutorial I posted I believe in Jan 2014).....today I have an updated version I created for Valentines day.  On this updated version instead of creating a basket handle with a punch I used a heart die and put that in place of the punch.

I just love them, these are excellent for m&m's, jelly beans, or small trinkets or jewelry, fun......all things girls love for Valentines day!

On the back I added some to/from tags:

These work up really quickly and are made with a 6 x 6 inch square, so give them a try, they can be decorated for any occasion you desire.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

Baked Vanilla Expresso Challenge

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a great weekend.....this morning my girls were complaining that the weekend went by way tooooo fast......we can't wait for Easter break, lol :)   We had some wonderful much needed rain yesterday! yea....I hope we get more soon.  Since it was a rainy sunday and we are not a football loving family I did some crafting while my girls were watching movies.

For my inspiration I thought I would join the color challenge the SU fb group I belong to is currently having, actually there is a new color challenge every week but like last week when I finally had the time to participate they were already posting the new challenge.....oh we'll at least I get to play!

The colors we are using are baked brown sugar, very vanilla, & early espresso....I decided to use the espresso for my base since I had already set my heart on using the folder (which I cannot remember the name of) with vanilla......when I was putting it all together I thought it needed some bling and decided to use these little rhinestones....they went better with the color scheme than the rhinestones did......here's the front:

I used one of those retired 3 way punches to make my flower, I punched out 3, daubed the edges and made some snips between the petals so I could curl them a bit, then I layered them and added the button in the center..

Since I used a dark base I decided to finish the inside and provide room for personalizing.....

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you have a great Monday!

Cute Hair Bows made with the Bow Big shot die

Hello Papercrafters,

Happy Saturday!  I don't usually post on the weekends but since I failed so miserably at posting this last week I thought I would share a super cute, super fun, super quick to make craft.   I found some really cool felt that had a cool print on it, ran it through the Bigshot using the bow die, then to adhere the pieces together I used some hot glue, it works great and sticks immediately!    I bought a box of hair clips wrapped a scrap piece of felt around the bottom prong and glued then glued the clip onto the bow.

They turned out so cute!  my girls love them, now I want to find or create more patterns with the felt and make more.....of course they could be embellished and stepped up with some bling  but they look super cute in your hair just like they are......

These would make great gifts or would be fun to make at a girls crafting party.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!
